Darren Wassman Obituary

Darren Dean Wassman (Doobie) Of Colorado Springs, CO passed away on August 12, 2025 at the age of 58 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was proceeded in death by his life partner Donald Nabb, mom Norma Lopez, dad Gene Wassman, and brother Eric Wassman.
Darren was born and raised in Denver, Colorado to Norma and Gene Wassman on January 21, 1967. He graduated from Denver North High School and then attended Regis University, where he achieved his bachelor's degree in accounting.
Darren is survived by his siblings Gene Wassman, Wenonah Fisher, and Elia Fisher; nieces Gabriella Montoya, Ariel Gonzales, and Faith Bobian; nephews Ezekias Bobian and Uriah Bobian; and godson Gavin Chisolm.
Darren enjoyed his time outside. He loved taking his dogs to the dog park, going boating and camping, and taking road trips. Darren had a passion for cars, including model cars, and would spend many hours putting them together and painting them. Darren was also a grammar king! If you were going to say something around him, you were obligated to say it correctly. As a child, Darren was often playfully tortured by his older brother, Gene, and enjoyed frequent, playful duals with his Irish twin, Eric. As an older kid and teen, he loved to tease his younger siblings, especially his sister, Wenonah. And, of course, Darren had his baby bro, E, whom I don’t think he ever picked on. Darren’s favorite person other than Don was Marvin, who was his best bud since kindergarten. In high school, Darren sang in the choir, was a member of the swim team, and was the personal chauffeur for his younger brother Eric, who didn't yet have his own vehicle (If Darren was ever running late for school, so was Eric, and he never hesitated to remind his brother that he was the "one with the car keys!", if Eric ever tried to rush him.

Darren had a very humble and gentle spirit. He had what he earned, endured his ups and downs, and balanced his times of happiness with his times of sadness. Loving and caring Darren would enjoy seeing other people laugh, and had this thing about him that was simply called, "Darren being Doobie". Darren is survived by numerous family and friends and his memories will always live long.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Doobie, here’s to you! We love you!
