Kathleen M Schultz

Kathleen “Mickey” Michele Schultz (Manzanares), a cherished soul born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on August 10th, 1960, departed from this world on March 18th, 2024, after a heroic battle with lung cancer. She was embraced by her son Brandon Nelson and daughter Shanna Schultz at her side.

Mickey’s journey was marked by unwavering independence, resilience, and a heart filled with compassion.  Her selflessness knew no bounds, and she touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity.  Whether it was lending a listening ear or extending a helping hand, Mickey's spirit of empathy resonated deeply with all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Mickey was preceded in death by her beloved father, Emil Manzanares, dear brother Larry Manzanares, her cherished mother, Kathleen Manzanares (Tilton), and nephew Emilio “Milo” Schuler.  Though they have passed on before her, their love and legacy lived on in Mickey.
 
Mickey illuminated the lives of many. As the owner of Hair Elegance beauty salon, her salon became a sanctuary where beauty flourished and friendships blossomed.  She dedicated herself to her clients, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered.  Leading by example, Mickey inspired others to cultivate kindness and empathy by starting the Milo Monday’s program at Hair Elegance, where 100% of tips every Monday were donated to organizations spreading love, hope, and support to precious babies born with Down Syndrome.  Later, she became a successful agent at Merit Co. Inc., Real Estate, with a career marked by integrity and service.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Mickey was a devoted parent to her children, Brandon and Shanna. She found immense joy in nurturing her family and creating a warm and loving home where laughter filled the air. In addition, Mickey was an avid gardener whose green thumb brought life and vibrancy to her backyard.  Her passion for fostering dogs further exemplified her boundless compassion for all creatures great and small.

Mickey's legacy will be one of love, compassion and service to others.  Her memory will forever be cherished by her children, family, friends and the countless lives she touched along her journey.

A celebration of Mickey's life will be held to honor her memory on March 23, 2024 at 4128 Harvest Moon Terrace, Colorado Springs, CO 80925 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, Attention: Philanthropy, in honor of Mickey's enduring spirit of kindness and generosity.

Mickey will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the light she brought into the world.  May she rest in eternal peace, her spirit now soaring free from pain and suffering.  Though Mickey's physical presence may no longer be with us, her memory will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
