Lola Strader Obituary

Lola Anne Strader (Lett) was born in Charleston, South Carolina, on August 21, 1937
and died on November 5, 2024, at the age of 87.
Anne was raised for the first twelve years of her life in Charleston, and then moved with
her mother and brother to Blowing Rock, North Carolina. She graduated from Blowing
Rock High School in 1955 and then from a one-year business course at Women's
College, now UNC-Greensboro.
On September 5, 1959, she married James Russell Strader (Jim). The couple spent
time in Oklahoma while Jim was a student pilot, and then in New York City after he was
hired by Eastern Airlines. They later settled in the greater Atlanta, Georgia, area, as
Jim was based out of Atlanta for his job. They welcomed their two sons, Russ and Mike,
while living in Riverdale, Georgia. They were later divorced but shared pride in their
sons and granddaughters.
Anne worked part-time for various churches during the years of raising her sons,
eventually going to work full-time for First Presbyterian Church in Atlanta after Russ and
Mike were grown. She also worked for schools in rural Massachusetts and
Dahlonega, Georgia. For many years she assisted Nan Merrill in her "Friends of Silence"
ministry, editing the newsletter for many of those years.
Anne was preceded in death by her aunt Grace Clontz, father John Allen Lett, and
mother Lucile V Reid (Lett). She is survived by her son James Russell Strader, Jr., and
his wife Andrea Denise Cormie-Strader of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son Michael Lee
Strader of Houston, Texas; brother John Lett and his wife (sister-in-law) Pat Boylan of
Prunedale, California; granddaughters Jazmine Elizabeth Strader, Emily Donelle
Strader, Krista Abigail Strader, and Ella Jacqueline Strader of Colorado Springs,
Colorado; niece Alyxe Lett and her wife Jeni Odoms of Sacramento, California, and
many dear friends.
Anne was an exceptional mother, sister, and grandmother. She was loved by many
throughout the nation and was a wise, spiritual and loving person. She loved the
outdoors, photography, reading, and spending time with family. She was
compassionate, caring, and supportive, and gave unconditional love and acceptance of
people from all walks of life. Her intelligent, calm, and loving presence will continue to
live on.
The family sends a heartfelt thank-you to the staff at Legend of Colorado Springs and
Gentle Shepherd Home Care. A special thanks and endless gratitude is extended to
caregiver Diana Anowa for her amazing compassion and work for the last several years.

Anne's life will be celebrated in a private family service out of state later this month. In
lieu of gifts or flowers, the family suggests donations can be made in Anne's name to
the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
