Obituary

Lucky Paul Jones is a native of Colorado. He grew up in Colorado Springs and passed away at home on Saturday, February 11th, 2023. He was born on April 28th, 1943 to Earl Keith and Emma Gertrude (Erb) Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Judith; youngest daughter Jill Louise; sister and brother in law Hugh and Dyonne ( Moeller) Roberts; sister in law Jeanne (Rose) Jones; uncle and aunt Bill and Nada Watts; uncles, aunts, cousins, maternal and paternal grandparents.

He graduated from William J. Palmer High school in 1961. Lucky married his high school sweetheart Sharon K. Moeller on August 7th, 1961. He is survived by his brother Earl Keith, ex wife Sharon; daughter’s Kelly Rostad and Leslie (Quentin) Henry; granddaughters, Lacy (Brent) Didericksen and LaRee Henry; and long time friend Beth Gouge. Also numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; Mike Forney, his right-hand man at his business and close family friends, Terri Marro, Nick Marro, Mischelle (JR) Chambon.

He worked as a bricklayer, oil rig driller, and for several years at Hewlett-Packard in the circuit board department. He started GO auto salvage with his friend Gene O’Dell in 1979. Gene worked at Hewlett Packard as well and lived right down the street. Gene had to stop working due to health reasons, and Lucky continued operating the salvage yard. He mostly retired, but was still buying and selling cars and parts, with his friends and old customers.

Lucky grew up hunting elk and deer. He and Sharon were fortunate enough to hunt in Alaska for moose and caribou with Uncle Bill and Nada several times. They went on two Caribbean cruises and spent a month traveling in Australia in 1997. They spent summers waterskiing on Pueblo reservoir, lake Powell and lake Navajo.

He requested his ashes be spread in the wilderness around Rico, Colorado. Rico was his favorite memory of elk hunting with his uncle Bill and Bill’s horse Buttermilk.

The family wishes to express appreciation and thanks to Beth for the conscientious care she gave Lucky over the past few years as his health declined
