Marilyn Mozer Obituary

Marilyn Taylor Mozer, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed
away peacefully on February 10, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, surrounded by her loving
family. She was 90 years old.
Marilyn was born on September 1, 1935, in eastern New Mexico, the daughter of rancher Joel
Barney Taylor and Mary Myers Taylor. Her father died when she was a young child, and her
mother courageously raised Marilyn and her three siblings, Joe Taylor, Sue Bridges, and George
Taylor, through the challenges of a hardscrabble ranch life. The family later moved to Clovis,
New Mexico, where all four children grew into strong, independent adults shaped by
perseverance, faith, and deep family bonds.
Marilyn married Gerald R. “Jerry” Mozer, with whom she shared a devoted partnership until his
passing in 2006. Together they raised three children, Ronald Mozer, Jerrilyn Rooney, and Joel
Mozer; and hand-built a unique passive solar home that reflected their creativity and shared love
of simple, thoughtful living. Marilyn delighted in her role as grandmother to Michelle Cone,
Monica Nordman, Melissa Christiansen, and Henry Mozer, and as great-grandmother to Alexis
Christiansen, Julian Nordman, Elliott Cone, and Connor Christiansen.
A woman of many talents, Marilyn loved to sew, knit, paint, and create beauty wherever she
lived. She was an avid traveler who, with Jerry, explored Europe and Mexico extensively and
ventured to distant lands such as China, Russia, and the Holy Land. Yet her greatest joy was
found close to home, playing the keyboard, tending her garden, arranging flowers, reading
widely, and learning the local history of Alamogordo, New Mexico, where she spent most of her
adult life. She was well known in her community for her daily walks, warm conversations with
neighbors, and genuine interest in others' lives.

Above all, Marilyn will be remembered for her kindness. She nurtured relationships with
extraordinary care, spending countless hours on the phone keeping her extended family
connected. Her life was an enduring example of strength, faith, generosity, and quiet grace.
In September 2025, Marilyn celebrated her 90th birthday in grand style, surrounded by family
members who traveled to Colorado to honor her, a joyful gathering that reflected the love she
had sown throughout her life.
Marilyn’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and
all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
A memorial service will be held in Alamogordo, NM. Details pending.
