Pablo Gajardo Obituary

Nothing written on a page will ever fully capture the vibrant spirit that was Pablo, but hopefully these words embody just an iota of the man, brother, husband, and son whom we all loved so much.

Pablo  Roberto Gajardo – affectionately known as Pablito – was a doting father to his children Sophia and Hunter; a son to Elizabeth Rogers; a husband to Christie-Lee Van Damme (Gajardo); a brother to Juan (“Donny”) Gajardo; and a friend to us all.

Pablo was born in Santiago Chile on May 20th of 1982. He moved to Florida at a young age, where he grew up with his mother and brother in their North Miami home. He attended Biscayne Elementary School, Nautilus Middle School, Miami Beach Senior High School, and the U.M. School for Applied Technology, forming lifelong friendships along the way. He went on to become a highly skilled mechanic and worked for the City of Miami Beach, where he was entrusted with the important responsibility of maintaining the city’s fleet of police vehicles and heavy equipment.

In 2009, he was blessed with his daughter Sophia – the absolute pride and joy in his life. As the primary caretaker of his daughter, he exemplified what it means to be a father; nurturing and raising a little girl that he so proudly showed off to the world. In 2014, Pablo attended his friend Dan’s wedding, where he met and fell in love with Christie and her son Hunter. Becoming a blended family, they lived together in Miami for six years and eventually moved to Colorado Springs in 2020. In Colorado, the family experienced many firsts: the purchase of their first home, an engagement, and the planning of their official wedding ceremony; a day that Pablo so looked forward to sharing with Christie and everyone that he loved.

Pablo was larger than life because in many ways, he had it figured out: he loved his family, always made time for his friends, worked with his hands for living, and knew when not to take life too seriously. While Pablo relished in the simple things, he was by no means a simple man.

Pablo could be tough - his bare hands could loosen a scolding hot oil plug without spilling a single drop - but when Sophia needed her dad, he was as gentle as a teddy bear. Pablo was an eternal optimist, and his good spirits always lifted the mood no matter where he was. Pablo was unconditional: he was never above anyone, he approached life humbly and sincerely, he always thought of others, and when he gave you his friendship, he gave you his heart and his soul. He was the kind of man that would come to your rescue, give you the shirt off his back, and never ask for anything in return.

Although Pablo is no longer with us, his legacy and spirit carries on in Sophia and in the hearts of all of those who knew and loved him. He will be profoundly missed. Rest easy our beloved Pablito.
