Paul “Peter” Frank Schmidt Jr., 74, passed away on December 12, 2022, at his home in Colorado Springs surrounded by family.
Paul was born to Paul and Katherine Schmidt and raised in Hinsdale, IL. He graduated from high school at Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin and graduated from Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin. He moved to Rifle, Colorado in 1980 and met the love of his life, Shelly.
He worked for Pitman Company in the Chicagoland area for most of his career. He retired as CEO and Chairman of the Board in 2010. After retirement, they moved to Colorado Springs, CO to be close to the mountains that he loved. His hobbies were boating and off-roading. Other interests included fly fishing, target shooting, photography, and computers.
He is survived by his wife, Shelly; one son, Nathan (Kate) Schmidt of Monument, CO; two daughters, Jenny (Lori) Schmidt of Elkhorn, Wisconsin and Jessica (Ryan) Majors of Colorado Springs, CO; four grandchildren; two sisters Judy (Steve) Dotson of Carefree, Arizona and Debbie (Roberto) Casanaova of Weston, FL; one sister-in-law Margaret (Arthur) Schmidt of Ft. Myers Beach, FL; one brother-in-law Ricky (Ann) Hornung of Pettibone, ND; and many nieces and nephews. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a daughter.
There will be a memorial in January 2023 in Colorado Springs, followed by a memorial to celebrate his life in the summer of 2023 at the family lake house in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
