Shirley Artis Black passed away peacefully with family by her side on May 13, 2025, after a long illness.
Shirley was born Mar 19, 1936, and grew up in Akron, Ohio but also lived in Pampa, Texas; Scottsdale, Arizona; and finally, Colorado Springs, Colorado. She worked most of her life in the medical field as a receptionist and insurance billing clerk. She loved to cook and have family dinners as often as possible where she always made everyone laugh and have a good time. She loved animals and took in many dogs over the years. Each one was very special to her. She also enjoyed painting and sewing in her earlier years.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Charles C Artis and Rose M (Hamady) Artis; her husband Richard Black; sisters Joan Teeple (Jack), Gloria McNamara (Wallace), Doris Black (Dick), and brother Donald Artis. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Debbie Travis (John) and stepson Gary Black (Debbie).
Shirley is survived by her son Ed Moss (Diana) of Loveland, Colorado; and daughters Shari McCann (Brian) of Manitou Springs, Colorado; and Becky Blain (Dick) of Pampa, Texas; and stepson Terry Black (Theresa) of Delaware. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs.
