In Loving Memory of Steve Eagles
April 22, 1937 – October 26, 2025
Steve Eagles, 88, of Black Forest, Colorado, formerly of New York, passed away unexpectedly on October 26, 2025, with his beloved wife and son by his side.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Steve graduated from Boys High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Korean War. A man of many talents, Steve was an accomplished woodworker, artist, and craftsman. He was especially known and respected within the Native community for his beautifully made powwow regalia and his exceptional skill in creating traditional roaches.
Steve’s life was defined by creativity, strength, and an unwavering spirit. Those who knew him remember his charisma, his fearlessness, and the confident way he carried himself. His laughter was infectious, and his radiant spirit illuminated the day for everyone. His joy for dancing at powwows was unmatched. He was the heart and strength of his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Debra; his sons Justin, Ondré, Nathan, Craig, and Nelson; his daughters Francine, Lorraine, and Stephanie; and nine cherished grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Stevie.
Steve will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many whose lives he touched through his art and spirit. His memory will continue to dance in our hearts.
