Sylvester Lee Obituary

Sylvester A. Lee (AKA Sy, Poppa Lee, Uncle Sy, Private Investigator, Friend, Brother, and most important of all Man of God). Sy, as he was affectionately known by most was a wonderful Godly man. Sy was born in Memphis, TN  on 6/9/37 and was raised in Chicago, Illinois. He was the oldest son of Lucille Benton. He accepted Christ at the age of 12. He joined the military at 24 years of age. Sy started his career after the military attending college in San Antonio, soon relocating to Colorado Springs. He loved the mountains and would always relish in the beauty of Pikes Peak. Sy enjoyed being a private investigator and his relationship with the various attorneys, courts, and other individuals in the legal system. His ability to foster an environment of mutual trust with the youth and young adults allowed him to be effective and well respected in Colorado Springs and the surrounding communities.

Sy adopted so many into his circle of family/friends throughout his career, whether it would be from a case he handled or from his affiliations with church or just from his various roles in several civic organizations such as the Urban League, The United Way, Prison Ministries, etc. His quiet demeanor may have been misconstrued at times, but he had a heart of gold. His career as a private investigator took him to various states.

Sy was an Elder at Relevant Word Ministries and a former member of Payne Chapel AME.

He leaves to cherish in his memory a multitude of family to include two daughters, grand children, two brothers, a sister, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and so many that he adopted as friends/family over the years.

A special thanks to Relevant Word,   Rocky Mountain Pace, Lark Springs Assisted Living, Penrose Hospital Staff 4th Floor, and Pikes Peak Hospice Staff.

If Sy touched your life in any small or large way, you are the better for it. He is dancing again with familyfriends in the heavenly realm. Please don’t mourn or be sad because as Sy would say, “He did it his way and life is a journey, but a thankful one and he included God in it!”
